INTERVIEW WITH THE I AM SERIES TALKING ABOUT INSECURITIES OGE AJIBE.
THE I AM SERIES is a platform on Instagram where ladies get invited to speak on the topics such as Insecurity, the platform helps woman to express what they have been through and what they are currently going through in their various professional fields, as well as personal struggles. I was invited to be a part of this movement and got to meet so many amazing and beautiful ladies who shared their stories and experiences with me. It was a memorable experience, one I am grateful for.
Insecurities can be internal or external, and as well as everyone I have had and still have my share of it, I remember back in high school one of my biggest problems was my academics, this lead to a lot of self-doubt and loss of confidence. I had to take time out to prioritize and discover who I am and what I want to do which is how my brand Fashion Voice was found, I discovered my voice through fashion. I overcame my fear and self-doubt by understanding that everybody has something unique to offer and rather than change who you are or what you love to please others, channel that energy into growth, being empowered, supporting and inspiring others.
And another biggest insecurity that has affected and still affecting us is the issue of body imaging and speaking from personal experience I went through a lot of changes which lead to me adding body weight, this actually changed my way of thinking and the way I worked, in the fashion industry as a woman you are expected to be a certain weight, dress a certain way and majority of the time design clothes for a particular body type. Along the line, I had to learn to start loving and appreciating myself and my body, it is a gradual process and it is easier said than done. Now instead of seeing weight gain or body change as a problem, I see it as a blessing which would help me to influence the fashion industry and connect to other people out there would are being told that beauty comes in just one particular size, race or way. Blogging, styling, and Fashion designing has helped me to get a head start on my dream, I want people to know that it is okay to look different and that is where my motto BE YOU originated, my goal is let people that it is okay to feel good in their skin, size, and color.
INSECURITIES ARE THERE TO SHOW YOU THERE IS A BETTER VERSION OF YOU, SO DON'T LET FEAR STOP YOU FROM TRYING NEW THINGS, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.
